Volunteer's Room Japanese Class

Japanese language classes are held for foreigners living in the Kyoto area.

*Adults and children in elementary-school and above can join to study at the TANPOPO(Dandelion) Class on Sundays. Adults who have babies or young children can come to the class with them.

Closed Days

  • ・If Monday is a National holiday, the following weekday the classes will be canceled, and kokoka will be closed
  • ・Third Tuesday in February (18 Feb. 2025)
  • ・Apr. 2~8, Apr. 30~May 7, Aug. 1~31, Nov. 3, Dec. 17~Jan. 6

How to Participate

  • ・The participation fee is 200 yen per session (ticket system/applicable to all classes). Please purchase tickets at the Information Service Counter on the 1st floor
  • ・No reservation is required, but registration is necessary. Please register at the Information Service Counter on the 1st floor.
  • ・After purchasing tickets, please come to the reception desk for Japanese language classes. The participants will be placed in the groups according to their level.
  • ・Anyone can participate, at any time, at any level.
  • ・Classes are taught in small groups.
  • ・What will be studied depends on the class.
  • ・Adults and elementary-school children and above can study at the Special Japanese Class on Sunday morning. Adults who have babies or young children can come to the class with them.

NOTE

  • ・Please come to the class before the starting time. Students may not participate in the class if they are late.
  • ・When a “Storm Warning (boufu keiho) or “Special Emergency Warning (tokubetsu keiho) is issued for Kyoto City, classes will be canceled.
  • ・Classes are sometimes cancelled, so please be sure to check the schedule before coming.
