Life in Kyoto (LIK) is an information
newsletter published every other month in English and Japanese on paper basis. It is also available to read in Chinese and Spanish on the web. It is distributed free of charge at universities, Japanese Language schools, foreign student dormitories, and restaurants throughout Kyoto. Current circulation is 1,500/every other month.
Target Audience:
Foreign residents living in Kyoto, who will be staying iin Japan for one or two years;
Japanese who have an interest in foreign language and international exchange
Our Purpose is to Provide:
* Information in multiple languages for foreign residents;.
* Publications that will bring a feeling of reassurance to new visitors;
* A network which enables mutual understanding
For example, our meetings allow exchanges between foreign residents and Japanese, as well as between foreign resodents themselves and Japanese themselves.

@To mainly collect and offer information that is useful for foreign resident;
ATo Try to use articles which are a reflection of direct experience;
BTo make the Japanese language version easy to understand for foreign residents,doing our best to use plain and understandable vocabulary and expressions
Contents:
@Information on daily living, articles on seasonal topics, and writers' reflections on experiences related to life, culture, and events in Kyoto;
AUpcoming event information in Kyoto(including activities sponsored by KCIF)
Publication Term:
Bimonthly, on even-number months (6times a year)
Number of Pages and Article Allocation:
*Both Japanese and English versions of the publication will contain six pages each.
*Web: Some of the Chinese and Spanishariticles are available on the web.
* If volunteer translators are available, all pages are translated in full, otherwise partially.

Further Description of the Volunteer Staff Role:
* To actively take part in one's chosen activity(among those listed above)
* Native staff can specifically help with the following:
Translating Japanese articles and proofreading translation into English;
Providing insight on what's interesting from the perspective of foreign residents;
Reviewing Japanese articles and pointing out which Japanese expressions might be difficult for foreign residents to understand
Advertisements:
we would like LIK to include advertisements.
*The advertiser must offer necessary information for foreign residents.
*Money paid for the advertisement will be used towards publishing costs.

Regarding Meeting Postponement and Cancellation
@When there is a warning on the weather forecast of an upcoming storm, heavy rain or floods, the meeting shall be postponed until the following week. Volunteers will be informed of the cancellation by e-mail.
AIf KCIF is closed on the 1st Wednesday in January(due to the New Year holidays), the meeting shall be rescheduled for the 2nd abd 4th Wednesday of January only.
