The Library

There are currently about 22,000 books and materials housed within the library. It is possible to browse freely through maps, magazines and newspapers from around the world, along with a selection of books and materials from both overseas and Japan. The collection includes dictionaries in 130 languages, books donated by Kyoto’s sister-cities, picture books from 80 country and regional areas, newsletters and booklets from numerous exchange organizations, information on overseas travel and study, as well statistical and yearbooks. In addition, the library has a lending-service consisting of about 570 paperback books in five languages, mainly English, which can be borrowed on a short-term basis. By all means come and use these services!

Japanese Language Study Corner

There are about 150 Japanese language conversation, grammar and kanji textbooks, reference books, and dictionaries to aid your study of Japanese. Complimenting the above study materials are language tapes, CD’s, and videos that can be used at the library.

Video Library

Aside from the over 300 videos in the library’s own collection, the multi-system video players allow viewing of tapes recorded on all systems, including PAL and SECAM. Also, region-free DVD player is available for use. Feel free to bring along your own videos or DVDs to watch with friends.
