Japanese Teaching Proficiency Test

Japanese Teaching Proficiency Test
Test of Japanese teaching skills aimed at potential and present Japanese teachers. This test will evaluate whether or not one has reached the standard level required for Japanese teaching specialists. It is held once a year around December.

Japanese Language Proficiency Test

Standard Test for Private Overseas Students

JETRO Business Japanese Test for Non-Native Speakers
This is the first business Japanese test officially recognized by the government.
It is held once a year (June) on a same day in major cities in Japan and other countries.

English Proficiency Test
This is the most popular English test in Japan.
This test has five levels from fifth grade to first grade.
It is held three times a year.

Test for Tourist Guide
This test can be sit in several language: French, Spanish, German Chinese, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, and Korean. This is a national examination run by the transportation administration. On passing this test, certification as a guide using a foreign language will be provided by the prefectural government in which the test was taken. The first test is to measure language proficiency and the third tests knowledge of history, geography, politics, economics etc. This test is held once a year.

UN English Test (United Nation's Official English Test)
This test has six levels from E to A and focuses on listening and speaking skills.

This is a worldwide test to measure communication ability in English
Levels range from E to A, according to score. Held six times a year.

Chinese Test
This test is divided into six levels from quasi-fourth (4.5) to first level.
It is held three times a year.

HSK Test (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi)
This test is the only test for non-native Chinese (Han) speakers recognized by the Chinese education administration. It is a national test to measure Chinese proficiency.
Students are required to take this test to study in China. It is held twice a year.

This test started in 1997 to measure practical Chinese communication skills.
The score indicates ones level of proficiency. It is held twice a year.
