Visiting an Imperial Establishment

To visit the Imperial Palace, the Katsura Imperial Villa or the Syugakuin Imperial Villa you must first obtain a "visit application" (in the case of foreign tourists).

To Obtain a Visit Application:
1)	Telephone the Imperial Household Agency of Kyoto and tell them when you would like to pick up an application form. TEL: 075-211-1215
2)	Go to the office and fill in the application form. Although it is possible to visit on the day of application, as numbers are limited, it is advised that you call in advance and confirm if available. You can also bring one Japanese friend with you so as long as there is a vacancy.
3)	Reception: the Imperial Household Agency of Kyoto, right side of Inuimon (inside the Imperial House) Karasuma-Imadegawa-sagaru Reception: Mon-Fri 8:45Å\|16:00
Visit day: Weekdays and every third Saturday Saturday visits are only available to those who make a reservation in advance. Visiting is possible every Saturday during April, May, October and November. Closed Sundays, national holidays, Monday if public holiday is Sunday, and between 12/25~1/5.
