What is the Kyoto City International Foundation (KCIF)?

The Kyoto City International Foundation was established to promote mutual friendship and understanding between Japanese and foreign people - those living in Kyoto, visiting Kyoto, or studying the history, culture and arts here. The International Foundation is responsible for the administration and management of the Kyoto International Community House, which was built by Kyoto City in 1989. The Community House was designed to provide an environment where foreigners and Japanese can get together in an atmosphere of cooperation and friendship.
The Foundation acts as a center of international communication in Kyoto, collecting and distributing information, holding events, running volunteer system and so on.
We hope that new international communication from Kyoto throughout Japan toward all over the world is developed.
This pamphlet will introduce you to the International Community House facilities, events and activities. Kyoto's adopted theme as "A City open to the free exchange of World Cultures" is being pursued here. You are warmly invited to participate.
